Current Assignments:

Here is a recap of what we've done after LIFT and what's coming up.

Math:
We've done Lesson 11 and 12.

Science:
Ch. 6 Sections 1-3 with notes for each section in Journals

Bible:
We are watching the Most Important Questions series and filling out a study guide that goes with it. The program archives can be found at www.miqteens.com if anyone is sick and needs to catch up on a program they miss at school.

Social Studies:
The European Countries "All Countries" test will be taken each day between now and the end of the quarter (Friday 10/22) until a student scores 100%. If they do not reach 100%, the score they get the last day will be recorded as their grade.

Writing:
The students are choosing one of the rough drafts they wrote this quarter to publish in the quarterly "Class Magazine".

The publishing steps and deadlines are listed below:

Steps to Publishing a Type 5 Piece of Writing

Step 1: Brainstorm possible writing topics and writing styles

Step 2: Write a Rough Draft

Step 3: Revise:

- Write 2 other possible titles

- Write 2 other possible beginnings.

- Write 2 other possible endings

- Find nouns/adjectives you can make more descriptive and specific

o The red truck = The fire engine red Ford F-150

- Find actions you can turn into step-by-step slow motion descriptions.

Step 4: Type a second draft and print it out

Step 5: Edit your printed draft

- Make paragraphs

- Look for sentences that should be split into more than one sentence

- Proper quotations for people talking

- Capitalize proper nouns

- Use an apostrophe for possessive words

- Make sure no words are left out of sentences.

- When a word is misspelled, make sure you choose the right word from the list of choices.

Step 6: Publish

- Create a cover page

- Put the title at the top of your writing

- Print out

IOWA Tests:
Outside of Bible, Writing, and the daily Social Studies test, the rest of the time will be spent for IOWA testing this week.
